HP DVD Writer dvd200e/dvd200i/dvd200xi Firmware 1.72 Windows 98/ME/2000/XP. The RecordNow software included on the DVD200 installation disc must be installed for the firmware update to operate successfully. Install RecordNow before running this update. DVD200e Owners: The DVD200e must be attached to a USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 port during the upgrade process. The firmware update will not function correctly if the DVD200e is on an IEEE-1394 port. After the firmware update, the DVD200e can be re-attached to the IEEE-1394 port. The upgrade contains all previous firmware revision changes and includes the following new features:
  • Laser write strategies added for new 8x DVD+R media manufacturers. Without this new firmware version, the DVD200 may experience incompatibilities with these types of media. (The firmware update will NOT allow the DVD200 drive to write at 8x speeds. The DVD200's maximum recording speed is 2.4x no matter what recordable DVD media is being used.)
